Things to see & do in the AlgarveAlbufeira or Albuheira means lagoon. It is Portugal's most popular resort and has been described as the holiday-land suburbia. It has 23 captivating beaches that are protected by cliffs. The Virtual Archaeological Museum, the Municipal Art Gallery and a small museum showcasing Ming ceramics is a must see. You must experience the nightlife with the people of Albufeira as the sun goes down. Restaurants, bars and clubs are always crowded with people. Albufeira’s Old Town has historical places like the Bell Tower erected in 1869 which is a part of the parish-Church. There is a 28-meter staircase that leads up to the eight-bell carillon that tops the tower. The Old Town has a 19th century Clock Tower which is adorned with an iron crown that holds the bell. It rings out hourly and is lit up during festivals and is an amazing sight. The scuba diving in Albufeira gives visitors an opportunity to get up close with the colourful reefs in the Algarve region. You can see underwater life such as octopuses, teams of cuttlefish, brightly coloured fish like damsels and sea breams, moray eels, underwater crabs, lobster and conger eels. Albufeira has artificial reefs, wrecks and reef wall dives.
 Aqualand Algarve: ex-The Big One, is located in the central area of the Algarve, near the town of Alcantarilha (Armacao de Pera), 15 Km from Albufeira. The park has water attractions for all tastes, some totally unique in the country, such as the Banzai, which give moments of pure adrenaline, joy, fun, adventure and relaxation. Attractions that make this waterpark special are the Banzai Boggan where only the brave dare to surf on there board after descending a nearly vertical drop of 23 meters and gaining a dizzy speed or if this isn't for you then try the more conventional Kamikaze a breathtaking slide that will take you from 36 meters in the sky, along 95 metros of slide, to ground zero in less than four seconds! The Kamikaze is a challenging experience that creates addiction. There's also the Corkscrew (Anaconda) a multiple majesties water slide! 5 times the slides, 5 times the fun! The Rapids where you can experience the thrill of white water rafting. There's the Crazy Race where you can race your friends to the bottom plus a many more exciting things to do for all ages. Based on the theme "The Life of the Oceans", Zoomarine at present occupies over 8 hectares, where, with a single ticket, the family has access to an area of leisure, entertainment and education. See the spectacular Dolphin show and performances by the Seals and Sea Lions and experience the colour of the magical bird shows and visit the aquarium. Enjoy the tranquil gardens and the different amusement rides such as the big wheel, the mini roller coaster or the pirate ship. There park also have swimming pools for both adults and children and a variety of shops and restaurants. Lagos Zoo: Situated about 15 minutes drive from Lagos, the zoo houses more than 120 animal and 200 botanical species from the five continents, in a natural environment. Children will love the farm area which has ponies, sheep, goats, ducks and chickens where the children can actually touch them, if they so wish. There's an amazing flight tunnel which enables visitors to watch wonderfully coloured birds in free flight. Quad bike tours & hire: A wonderful Algarve quad bike tour, that begins with full guidance and safety tuition. The quad trail commences from base, heading north of Albufeira towards Tunes. You will travel along tarmac before driving our quads off road where you will see small, unspoilt, rural Portuguese houses. Make sure to wave at the locals, as they love to see our quads pass by!
